Types of In-Ground Pools
Fiberglass and vinyl-liner designs are the least expensive and quickest to install. In some locations they can last decades, but in the sunny Palm Springs area they typically go for only 7-12 years before developing cracks and leaks. They’re also pre-manufactured and come only in certain sizes and shapes.
Concrete pools (also called gunite ) are constructed entirely on site and can be fully customized into just about size or shape you can imagine. They can be simple lap pools, L-shaped, geometric, or free form and readily accommodate features such as water falls and stonework. For water proofing, concrete pools have an inner layer of plaster, also called whitecoat or marcite. This lining can be plain, colored, or textured with pebbles or other materials.
